NGARUAWAHIA NEWS.

AN ACCLIMATISATION CLUB. [BY TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NGARUAWAHIA, Thursday. Persons interested in sporting and acclimatisation matters met and formed a local acclimatisation club. Mr. J. S. Johnston was elected president, and Mr. S. Saulbrey secretary, and a strong committee was set up. The Ngaruawahia Tennis Club was successful in retaining possession of the Lower Waikato Cup, defeating Huntly by 15 sets to 9. The bowling season here has closed. Russell McFarlane won the handicap singles after a great fight with J. S. Johnston, the runner-up. The same player had previously won the championship singles and on Saturday plays Coombes, of Hamilton, to decide the champion of champions of the Waikato. The annual meeting of parishioners of the Anglican Church appointed Mr. W. Fuller vicar's warden and Mr. H. Hutt people's warden. Mrs. Fuller, Miss Burnett and Messrs. Hook, Watts, Eyre, Foster, Rayner, Gerring and Watkin were elected to the vestry.
