MATAMATA. Thureday

A forged cheque was responsible for the arrest at Hamilton oh Tuesday of a young man, Jaines Gotbop, who Ijad been em ployed by Mr. F. H. Barrett, of Hinuera. . Information was received by Constable T. Hoops, Matamata, that a forged cheque for £lO, in favour of F. H. Barrett, and payable to J. Smith, had been presented to the Bank of New Zealand, Morriusville, where the forgery was detected. The. delinquent was traced to Ruakuta, where he was nrerstcd by Detective Culohy on Tuesday. Accused admitted his guilt and was brought before the Court at Hamilton on Wednesday and remanded.
