SCULLING CONTEST.
CERUTI VERSUS MASON. SELECTION OF THE COURSE. [I)V TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI, Thursday. The two principals George Ceruti, of Sydney, and Jim Mason, of Whangarei, met yesterday in regard to a sculling match of £IOO a side. They traversed th( proposed course as a preliminary to its selection. It was agreed that the race should bo from tho bridge to the Town Wharf and that it should start half an hour before high water on Thursday afternoon, May 20. The distance is approximately three miles There are three turns in the course, two to the left and one to tho right, but, as Ceruti stated, it was as fair to one competitor as to the other. To-day Ceruti left on a tlsit to his friends in Dargaville. He will return on Monday and will then resume serious training.
