THE TECHNICAL COLLEGE.
EXTRA ACCOMMODATION.
ROOMS IN OLD GRAMMAR SCHOOL
The monthly meeting of the Seddon Memorial Technical College Board was held yesterday, Mr. 11. S. W. King presiding. The urgency for extra accommodation was stressed by Mr. J. J, Park, director of the college, who said that as tho result of negotiations with the Grammar School Board tho use of four rooms in tho old Grammar School in Symonds Street, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., had been offered. Three of the rooms were to be used as classrooms, with thp old desks and appointments. The fourth was to bp used as a library. The matter was referred to the Executive Committer with power to act. Tho board nominated Mr. King and Mr. Scott, chairman of the Dunedin Technical School Board, for seats on the New Zealand Technical School Board. A lengthy discussion on the question whether the inspector's report on the work of the instructors should be confidential was settled by a compromise, it being decided to place a full copy of the report before each member at the next meeting. Mr; Park read a letter from the Education Department stating that only onethird of the staff of 28 was to be classed in grade A and B, five to be in class A. A previous misinterpretation of a letter had placed one-third of the whole staff in grade B. The necessary regrading of instructors was left to the director.
