MANAWATU GORGE ROAD.

DESIRE OF MOTORISTS. A HIGHER SPEED LIMIT. At a meeting of the Wanganui Automobile Association on Tuesday evening a letter was read from the Feilding branch asking that the association conduct a test case in order to have the speed limit on the Manawatu Gorge road increased. The association was not in favour of holding a test case, but considered that the only practical, way to get over the difficulty was to get the controlling body, the Gorge Board of Control, to increase the speed limit. It was contended that the speed limit of 15 miles was ridiculous considering the good state the road is in, and many motorists had been unfairly fined for speeding. It was finally decided to write to the North Island Motor Union with the object of approaching the controlling authority of the Gorge Road with regard to having the speed limit increased. It. was also decided to ask the Wellington and Wairarapa Associations to take the same step.
