FIVE HAWKERS FINED.

BREACH OF REGULATIONS. Five Hindu fruit hawkers, Dukya Kangi, Bhana Kaya, Parlihu, Govind, Narotam Daji and Wellabh Bhana, were charged in the Polico Court yesterday before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., with failing to comply with the terms pf theii street stall licenses, which required them to be placed 30ft. away from the nearest main road footpath. Mr. Hogan, who appeared for the City Council, said that frequent' warnings had been given the hawkers in connection with placing their stalls too close to the main streets. No heed had been taken, however, and the encroachment was proving a danger to pedestrians, and also a nuisance to business houses in the vicinity. The magistrate said that hawkers would have to he warned that in future the conditions of the licences would have to be observed. Fines of £l, with costs, were imposed in each case.
