FAREWELL TO MINISTERS.

METHODISTS' GATHERINGS. Farewell functions to (lie Rev. W. A. Burley, M.A., who is to take up similar duties at. the Thames have been held at Birkenhead and Northcotc this week. A combined circuit, social was held at Birkenhead, when addresses were given by tho circuit stewards, Messrs. ,T. W. Court and 0. Paterson, and a presentation made on behalf of the whole, circuit. Representatives were present, from Albany, Glenfiold, Birkdaie, Birkenhead and Northcotc. Appreciative references were made to the good work accomplished in the district by Mr. Burley. Another presentation was made by the Methodist Club at Northcotc, there being a large attendance. Mr. M..R. Souster presided. The eulogistic, remarks of Mr. S. Evans were supplemented by Mr. H. Evans on behalf of the congregation and by Mr. E. C. Horsman on behalf of the Sunday school scholars and teachers. A farewell social was tendered the Rev. L. A. G. Brooks, Methodist minister at Frankton, on his leaving to take over the Taumaranui charge. Mr. Brooks has been minister at Frankton for two years and during that time has considerably widened tho church activities.
