GREAT SOUTH ROAD.
FARMERS AND CONCRETE. Somewhat contrary to expectations rh« farmers in the Papatoetoe riding of the Manukau (County showed strong approval of the scheme for concreting the Great South Road iu the district at the poll taken on Thursday. Only 281 ratepayers actually voted but by them a total of 565 formal votes was cast, the number of votes depending on the amount of land owned by a ratepayer.
