Duncan Clark, of Bassett Road, Remuera, and Sliss Thorold Clark, have left on a holiday visit to Sydney. Sliss Vera Slackay, who has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. Hislop, Wadestown, has returned to Auckland. Sliss C. Slahoney, Hamilton, who is spending the Easter holidays in Auckland, is staying at Slou Desir, Takapuna. Sirs. Staples-Brown (Slaggie Papakura), who has been visiting New Zealand, will return to England during the month. Sir. and Sirs. Vars, of Buffalo, are touring New Zealand. They are at present doing the Southern Lakes aud Slount Cook. At the Auckland Racing Club's autumn meeting held a* Ellerslie on Saturday, several ladies were wearing the much discussed Russian boots. On account of her imperturbable expression throughout the most exciting of contests. Sliss Helen Wills, the champion American lawn tennis player, is known as "Little Poker Face" throughout the States. Sister Emily Nutsey, who recently resigned her position as matron of the Stratford Hospital, is spending a holiday with her mother at Northcote, prior to taking up her new position as matron at the Hawera Hospital on the 16th inst. The French women are untiring in their campaign for the vole, and they have organised an international womenS suffrage conference, to be held in Paris during tho first week of June next year. Forty-two nations have already arranged to send delegates, and the French feminists are hoping that their presence will have some effect upon the Government.

Princess Louise made a love match with Lord Fife' in 1889, and so warmly was the union approved that he was offered the title of royal highness, but modestly contended himself. with a dukedom. The tragedy of the Princess Royal's life was his death at Assuan in January 1912, after their narrow escape from drowning in the wreck of the Delhi in the previous December.
