BRIDGING OF THE TUAPIRO. GOOD PROGRESS BEING MADE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] WATTTT, Friday. Good progress is being made by the Public Works Department with the bridging of the Tuapiro River, in connection with the construction eastward of the section of the East Coast railway line to the point at which it will junction with the section from Katikati, at what is known as the 14-mile peg. The Katikati section is the part of the line being constructed by Sir W. G. Armstrong, Whitworth and Company, under contract, and the specifications provide for its completion not later than March 31, 1927, 12 months from date. It is understood that the contractors expect to be in a position to hand over the line to the Government within the stipulated time. If this proves to be the case, Waihi will then be connected with Tauranga. as the final section from Te Puna to the township of Tauranga will be ready for traffic well before March of next year. This stretch is three or four miles longhand is being constructed by the Public Works Department.
