DEVONPORT BOROUGH.

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The Devonport Borough Council met last evening, tho Mayor, Mr. T. Lamont, presiding. Tho Valuation Department advised that the revaluation of tho borough had been completed, and requested tho council to afford facilities for tho inspection of tho roll by ratepayers. It was resolved to place the roll in the council chamber for inspection until the end of April. Tho medical officer of health reported on the unsanitary state of a fruit shop in Victoria Road. Tho condition of the building was such that satisfactory repairs could not be carried out, and the medical officer ordered the demolition of tho premises. The council resolved to advise the owner 'hat the building must be removed within 28 days. In response to an appeal by tho Prime Minister for subcriptions towards tbo endowment fund of the REockefeller Hospital, tho Finance Committee recommended that a grant of £lO should ho made.
