RETIRING MINISTER.
TRIBUTE TO REV. W. READY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDUNT.] HAMILTON. Wednesday. A public tribute to the services of the Rev. W. Ready, who for 41 years has been an active minister in the Methodist Church, and has now retired, was paid last evening, when Mr. Ready was entertained by a large number of friends. The Mayor, Mr. J. R. Fow, who presided, said Mr. Ready had endeared himself in the hearts of the people. He was ever fighting in the cause of righteousness and justice, and as an evangelist had won for himself a name that would be long remembered. It would bo impossible to calculate the great good ho had done, particularly in Dunedin. As a temperance worker, Mr. Ready held a notable record. Other speakers referred in terms of high appreciation to Mr. Ready's work. Mr. Ready was presented with a wellfilled wallet and a handsome bag. A musical programme was provided, and supper was served.
