SHIELD FOR COMPETITION. An extremely handsome shield to be offered for competition among the cheese factories of the Auckland Province has been presented to the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association by Messrs. Hartleys. Limited, of Newmarket. The shield is to replace the A. S. Paterson Shield, which was won outright last year liv (lie Opouriao factory. It will bo awarded to the factory obtaining the highest grading points for the season from October 1 to April 30. ft may be won outright by any factory which obtains the highest points for three successive years or for five years intermittently. The shield is of solid silver, mounted on a handsome oak back, and is valued at CSO. The centre is occupied by three "cheeses," finished in dull gold with a silver background. Above this will be a picturesque farming scene. The [ottering will be in polished gold.
