MATATOKI WATER SUPPLY.
THAMES COUNCIL'S POSITION. fltV TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] FRAMES Monday In connection with the proposed water supply scheme for Matatoki it is now pointed out that by proclamation made some time ago the Waihou and Ohinemuri Rivers and their tributaries were declared sludge channels. Before the warden could grant a license for water for domestic purposes from such a watercourse it would he necessary to have the proclamation modified, and the council's solicitors, not the warden, are taking the necessary steps to have this done. The warden has not expressed any opinion in the matter, as the application and the objection are still the subject of negotiations between the parties.
