MAINTENANCE ARREARS

ATTACHMENT WRIT SOUGHT. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Monday. An application for a writ of attachmentwas made in the Hamilton Supreme Court to-day, before Mr. Justice Ostler, by Grace Luxton (Mr. Johnson) against her former husband, Thomas Luxton, formerly a farmer of Eureka (Mr. Adams), in respect of £l9 10s, arrears of maintenance. Counsel for defendant asked for an adjournment until April 20, when defendant expected to be in a position to pay. At present he had no money, and was not working. Mr. Johnson said defendant had, since his divorce, married a wealthy woman, and was Jiving in Auckland, leading the life of a gentleman. He submitted that defendant should not be permitted to plead poverty. If an adjournment were granted counsel asked for security that the money would be paid. It was decided to adjourn fhe case until to-morrow to enable some arrangement to be made.
