COUNCIL'S WEEKLY BONUS.

The Christcliurch City Council decided this week that the present bonus o£ 4s a week, which is paid to employees who have five or more, dependants, be continued during the pleasure of the council, and that it apply to all employees net receiving more than £5 a week. Messrs. A McKollar, 0. W. B. Anderson and W. J. Sim asked to have their votes recorded against the report. Mr. C. P. .Agar, chairman of the Finance Committee, said the committee had decided to continue the bonus on the understanding that the Government was going to initiate a scheme.
