KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR.

TWO LUCKY ESCAPES. Two pedestrians were knocked down by a motor-car at the corner of Queen and Shortland Streets shortly before one o'clock yesterday afternoon. The driver was endeavouring to tarn into Shortland Street after proceeding up Queen Street, when he swerved to avoid another vehicle. The car struck a man, who fell beneath the front wheels. A young woman was also struck and thrown clear. After a short skid the car pulled up. The two victims of the accident sustained little moro than a severe shaking and thev were able to proceed home after receiving attention.
