ONE TREE HILL DRAINAGE.
RATES IN EASTERN AREA. LEVY TO BE BORNE BY BOARD. No ratepayer in the eastern drainage area of the One Tree Hill Road, Board district will be called upon to pay drainago rates next year. This decision was arrived at last evening by the Road Board, which decided that in view of the fact that rates were paid this year before the completion of the new system it would rescind nest year's levy. The engineer, Mr. J. W. Dawson, reported that the eastern area drainage contract had been completed, with the exception of minor work. There were still about thirty ratepayers who had notbeen connected but who could be if they desired. He thought many were delaying on account of cost. The chairman, Mr. R. G. Clark, saul the delay "in completing the work had proved a hardship upon many ratepayers who had to pay the sanitary, drainage board and interest rates, whereas they had not been given the advantages of the new system. Referring to the connection of those houses still using the old. system, Mr. Clark said that it would be necessary for the board to undertake the work. It would probably cost about £ISOO. ' , The engineer was instructed to notify ratepayers that they could receive assistance if desired in the work of connecting the houses and that the cost would have to be borne by those receiving aid.
