THE DOMINION CONFERENCE. MEMBERSHIP AN3 FUNDS. . [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] DUNEDIN, Wednesday.

The annual conference of the United Commercial Travellers' Association commenced this morning. Mr. James Brown (Dunedin), presiding over delegates from all parts of the Dominion. A civic welcome was accorded by the Deputy-Mayor, Mr. H. B. Taverner.

The president, in his address, said the funds of the .various branches totalled £70,000. and the total membership was .1575.

The report of the Accident Insurance Board showed that to make the fund secure it was necessary to have 50 per cent, of the eligible members as subscribers, «nd it was hoped to reach that proportion during the current year. The report was adopted. A motion for the adoption of a system of mortuary benefit surrender values on the transfor of members from one association to another, as laid down by an actuary and produced at the conference, was carried unanimously. The delegates were the guests of the united president, Mr. J. Brown, at dinner this evening. The conference resumes to-morrow.
