LOWER INCOME TAX.

INTENTION IN CANADA. RETAIL TRADERS' BURDENS. (Received 5.5 p.m.) Renter. OTTAWA. March 18. Mr. .Tames Pobb, Minister of Finance, informed a deputation representing the retail trade that the Government hoped to continue to reduce the income tax by a process of increasing exemptions, particularly in favour of those who had served overseas. The deputation asked that the present tax should be abolished on the grounds that it was not only confiscating the capital they required to extend their industries, but that it was frightening capital out of industry and preventing new investments.
