TRESPASS ON RACECOURSE.
CONVICTIONS AT TE AROHA. AN IMPUDENT REQUEST. [JIY ' TELEGHAPH. —OWN COBRESFONDENT.] TE AROHA, Saturday. Eugene O'Grady was charged before Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., that, being a person excluded by law from tho Te Aroha racecourse, he was found on the course during a race meeting. Accused was convicted and fined £lO, with cost 3, in default, two months' imprisonment. Edward Whitehead was also charged with being without legal right on the racecourse. Sergeant McLean said Whitehead had been previously convicted on a similar charge. Defendant was convicted and fined £lO, with costs,- in default, two months' imprisonment. Two months were allowed in 'which to pay. Alex. James Churton was similarly charged. Sergeant McLean said accused was one of tho most impudent thieves he had ever met. On the second day of the races accused complained- to that Constable Monson had asked him to leave. Accused wanted witness to tajco action against Constable Monson for insulting him. The magistrate read a list of convictions for theft against accused, who wrote asking for an adjournment, which was not granted. Ho was convicted and fined £2O, in default, four months' imprisonment.
