EARLY OTAHUHU.
MANY OLD RESIDENTS. Otahuhu has a number of residents who have lived in the town for a great many years. Some interesting facts in this regard were brought out in evidence given in a Court action at Otahuhu last Fri-. day. One witness was able to take his memory back 72 years when the settlement- was in its infancy, while another recalled th* state of the township 62 years ago. Two others had an acquaintance of over 40 years with the town. One of these witnesses remembered when a portion of the eastern side of the Great South Road, now in the business section of the town was a raupo swamp, and another recalled having erected a fence in Slation Road also mentioned that the old Station Road was - originally metalled with the assisttanco of the Railway Department.
