RUN OVER BY TRAIN.
THE PENROSE FATALITY. VERDICT AT THE INQUEST, A verdict of accidental' death ;with, no blame attachable to anyone was given by Mr. W. :R. McKean, S.M., coroner,. at the adjourned inquest, at Otahuhu, concerning the death of Mr. William H, Seed, who was run over and a train between Penrose : and Southdown. railway stations about seven o'clock .last. Sunday evening. _<■ ■ -■ - • t . Evidence was given yesterday by the enginedriver of the train that J' between Pentose station and the ; Southdown level crossing he- felt a slight shock, . but saw nothing . unusual. Tie questioned £lio fireman who ■ said ho thought lie saw a dark object on - the track. Witness stopped; the - train and on searching the track found the body of deceased. Thd lights of the automatic safety signals somewhat ■ 'dazzled witness" eyes at-tthe time. , ■-- « _ , The .fireman of the train gave corroborative evidence. It was also stated that deceased was seen proceeding along the Great South Road in the direction of Penrose about an hour before the accident. He was then' about one mile from his home in Penrose.
