SHOCK FOR STRIKERS.
PLACES READILY FILLED. COASTAL SEAMEN REPENT. Australian and - W.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 12.35 a.m.) SYDNEY. March 12. Consternation has been created among the members of the Seamen's Union by the employment of volunteer labour by the coastal steamship companies. It is authoritatively learned that the union has requested the owners to meet representatives of the strikers at a conference with a view to arriving at a settlement.
