GAS CYLINDERS REMOVED.
GARAGE OWNER'S PROMPT ACT.
During the fire in Messrs. Smith and Walker's garage at Taihape on Thursday Mr. E. Walker, one of the proprietors, was burned, about the arms in trying to salvage two gas cylinders. His head and face were, also considerably scorched. He managed to remove the cylinders, however, and probably averted a serious explosion. The damage to the I' 4 cars, which it was found impossible to remove from the burning building was confined to the hoods, seats, wind-screens, and some of the tyres, but none of the cars was materially damaged, and all can bo put in order by fitting them with new hoods, upholstery and a coat or two of paint. Some new machinery had just been installed in the workshop, but none of it suffered any damage, apart from the destruction of belting,
