HEAVY SHOWERS IN CITY.
' A sudden change - took place in the weather conditions in Auckland last evening, heavy showers falling from 8 o'clock until a late hour. The refreshing rain will be welcome after the prolonged spell of dry weather, and will be very beneficial to gardens. '
The rainfall for the'month up to 9 a.m. yesterday was only ,04iri.; hardly sufficient to be .noticeable, specially as the previous month's rainfall' Was ,40in. below the average for February. ' • The rainfall for tlie 24 hours ending at midnight,as registered by the Herald gauge, was .15in. The barometer, after being exceptionally high at 30.5 din. during the early part of the week, has been falling slowly since Monday. The reading last night was 29.90 in.
