LONG FAST BROKEN.
NO FOOD FOR 42 DAYS.
ENGLISH LADY'S EXPERIENCE.
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 10.35 p.m.) LONDON, March 10. Medical interest has been aroused iu a fast which has been carried out by Lady Fisher, wife of Sir Warren Fisher, Permanent Secretary to the Treasury. Lady Fisher has now broken her fast after 42 days in which nothing passed her lips but water and orange juice. Last night she experienced the first pang of hunger, whereupon she expressed a desire for brown bread and butter. The superintendent in charge of the institution where Lady Fisher carried out the fast; says hunger after such an experience is always for natural food. Lady Fisher has been allowed to drink diluted milk and will gradually work up to natural milk. In a week she will be allowed to eat brown bread. Throughout the first five weeks of her fast Lady Fisher danced and went for long walks. Generally she was physically active. She states that she has never felt better in her life.
