MYSTERY OF ATLANTIC.
AN ISLAND DISAPPEARS. MARKED ON BRITISH MAPS. A. and N.Z. CAPETOWN. March 10. The German survey ship Meteor Has arrived at Capetown after a cruise of exploration in the Southern Atlantic, which has lasted 11 weeks. Captain Spies reports that Thompson Island,, which is marked on British maps as being situated 80 miles north-east of Bouvct Island, could not be found. Many days were spent in the neighbourhood. The German scientists are satisfied thai they have proved the disappearance or the non-existence of this island.
