OTAHUHU BOROUGH.
DAMAGE TO FOOTPATH. The Otahuhu Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. R. B. Todd, presiding. The engineer reported that footpaths on the Great South Road, from Huia Road to Alexander Street, had been tarred recently. Immediately the work was finished two kerbside petrol pumps had been erected with consequent damage. Cattle had also been driven over the new surface to its detriment. An estimate of £786 for the cost of forming the footpath from the Middlemore Store to the Mangere railway crossing, was submitted by the engineer. In consequence of difficulties due to the levelling of the roadway, the engineer recommended the council to endeavour to undertake the permanent formation of the whole of Mangere Road. On the motion of the Mayor this question was deferred, it being stated that a loan scheme was pending. The foreman of works submitted an estimate of £283 for the formation of the footpath and roadway in Princes Street from the Great South Road to P,immure Road.
