A STUDY OF EELS.
DANISH SCIENTIST'S VJSIT. The Danish fishery expert, Dr. J. Schmidt, who has been visiting New Zealand to examine the species of eels in New Zealand waters, secured specimens from Pipiriki, on the Wanganui River. Dr. Schmidt is now on his way to Tahiti, where he will continue his investigations of the eels in the streams there. The results of his inquiries in the Pacific will be embodied in his book on eels, the existing edition of which is regarded as the standard authority on this branch of science.
