INSUFFICIENT ADDRESS.
Sir, —You recently published a letter indicating the extraordinary perspicuity exhibited by postal officials' in delivering an insufficiently-addressed letter. Such intelligence is not always displayed, however. Perhaps the post office delights in puzzles while ordinary correspondence suffers. I recently addressed a letter to Messrs. E. H. Hill, Ltd., Beta Works, 56, Broomhall Street, Sheffield. Our New Zealand Dead Letter Office returned it, presumably because they did not know where to send it. I venture to say that 99 persons out of 100 . (excluding, of course, postal officials) could' have sent that letter promptly to its destination. I might add that the address was typed, perfectly correctly and legibly, thus anticipating the possible explanation of illegibility of handwriting. I am cultivating tiro habit of putting London, England, now, as I believe there is a village in U.S.A. of this name. Order Delated.
