THE AUCKLAND CLUB. PRESIDENT'S "" AT HOME." The president's " At Home " at the Auckland Bowling Club on Saturday proved a most enjoyable function. There was a large attendance of bowlers from other greens and friends of the club. The grounds were in excellent' order, the , greens presenting a beautiful sight, set in ■■ the midst of gay flower beds and a plentiful array of bunting.. The pavilion was also gaily decorated t'or the occasion, the club's colours, red- white and blue, being: much in evidence. Th* trophies held by the oldest bowling club in the Southern Hemisphere made an inspiring array, : and a prominent place was accorded to the latest addition, the pennant won in the Roto-i-ua tournament by Professor Maxwell Walker and an Auckland club team. A string orchestra provided music throughout the eiternoon, and afternoon tea was served in the pavilion. The president of the club. Mr. C. B. Phimmer, welcomes the visitors in the course of a short speech, and paid a tribute to the work of the ladies, which was largely responsible for the success of such a function, ' Mr. Plummer also referred to the fact that Superintendent Eales would shortly leave Auckland for Christchurch. He had for a long time been a most popular'member of the club. The gathering joined heartily in " For. He's a Jolty Good Fellow," and ' Superintendent JSaies was th# recipient of many : good wishes. At the conclusion of the president's speech, Mrs. Plummer hoisted the Rotorua pennant and this was the signal for the commencement A game was played between president's and vice-president's teams, and. the results are as follow, names of president's teams being mentioned first:— President's Teams v.
