The Mercer Rowing Regatta was held on the Waikato River to-day in fine weather. In sp ie of strong counter-attractions the attendance was good, The courste for the rowing e>vents was downstream, and, with the exception of the senior fours, thesa races 'artare keenly contested, and in many instancea provided exciting finishes. The results'are as follow:—. Maiden Fours. lOst and under (Mrs. John Clark's Shield), 1 mile.—Mercer (W. G. Oliver, A. Pitt, L. Allan, L. Parsons), 1; Waitemata, (C. Fearon, J. Stevenson, J. McAnnaly, J McPhail), 2; West End (R.' Snowden, G. A. Cowling, L. A. McDonald, M. Taylor). 3. Six crews started. Won by a length, half a-length separating the second and third. Maiden Double Sculls (Farmter Cup), mile.—Waitemata. (J. Stevenson and A. Stewart), 1; Hamilton (R. Cruickshank and G. Stewart), and North Shore (D. Davies and W. Dean), dead-heat, 2. Four crtvwa started. Won by three-quarter of a length. Junior Double Sculls.".l} mites.—Hamilton (B; A Waters. R. Hill). 1; West End. 2. Threte crews started.
