NEW COURTHOUSE WANTED.

REQUEST FROM PAPAKURA. [by telegraph.—own correspondent. ] PTTKEKOHE, Monday. The urgent need of a new Courthouse at Papakura was stressed, when Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., opened the monthly Bittings of the Papakura Magistrate' Court to-day. Mr. S. D. Rice, solicitor, of Papakura, referred to the present building as being dilapidated and without ai?.y conveniences whatever. It had not even a witness box or dock. He considered the whole place derogatory to the dignity of the Bench. The district was growing and a new Courthouse was warranted. The request was endorsed by Mr. R. M*(V.eagh, of who said although the district had altered out of all recognition in the past 25 years, the Court accommodation was still the same. • The magistrate agreed that better accommodation was wanted, and promised to bring the matter before the department again .
