TE AWAMUTU NOTES.
DENTAL CLINIC WANTED, [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] TE AWAMTJTU, Tuesday. A deputation from the Chamber of Commerce and School Committee enlisted the support of the Borough Council last evening toward having a school dental clinic established in Te Awamutu. The council decided to provide a room in the Town Hall buildings. An appeal will shortly be made to the public for the necessary fundi> for equipping the room and maintaining the clinic. There is a probability that the borough staff engaged on the streets improvement scheme will be shortened so as to keep ' expenditure within the estimatas for the balance of thci financial year. At the council meeting last night, when the matter was mentioned,' Mr. Vile urged that married men should be given preference. If any men were to lse dismissed a start should be made with the single men. Mr. Montefiore declared that that attitude waii wrong-. The council must study the ratepayers 1 " interests, and employ only ; the men giving the best service. —-
