HEAVY JANUARY RAINFALL
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WAIHI, Tuesday. Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P., Ohinemuri, who has been in Wellington for several days on business connected with the electorate, will arrive in Waihi to-mor-row evening. On Thursday afternoon, in company with the Mayor, Mr. W. M. Wallnutt, and Mr. W. E. Busch, who has been actively interesting himself in the effort to have a school building erected on the reserve, the member will pay a visit to the Waihi beach with the object of inspecting the proposed site and looking into the ' conditions -generally. While there Mr. Samuel will be handed a numerously-signed petition urging the Auckland Education Board to proceed with the erection of a suitable school rainfall at Waihi last week-end brought the total to date for the month to ll*ssin. The Annual average lot January is 5.48 in. Ia January last year the total was 3.42 in. The rainfall for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. on i-riday was 1.30 in., and for the corresponding period to 9 a.m. on Saturday 0.00 m., the whole of which fell between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday, the wettest day since April .6 1924, when there was a fall of 6.lin. The .wettest day durirg 1925 was June 24, with 3.96 in.
