INTOXICATED DRIVERS.

MENACE IN UNITED STATES. CONVICTIONS IN THE CITIES. A. and N.Z. WASHINGTON, Jan. 24. The American Automobile Association, following a nation-wide survey, announces that the drunken drivers of motor-cars who are running wild in large cities of the United States should be treated as dangerous criminals. The association condemns the authorities for being more adept at fining motorists for trifling technical breaches of the traffic regulations than at suppressing dangerous drunkards. In Detroit 967 intoxicated drivers were convicted in 1925, New York 292, Boston 626, Washington 293, and Philadelphia 184. The convictions amounted to less than one-third of .those arrested.
