CANVASSERS AND DEPOSITS.
Sir, —I bog to warn Auckland residents, and especially the housewives, to be very cautious and careful before they part with their ready cash in the way of deposits ou materials which they buy on samples, and the delivery of which is promised to them. During last week a woman canvasser callsd on my wifo and sold her, on samples, materials to arrive within three months. On investigation, I discovered that the. business in run here by an individual who arrived from Sydney during the end of last month, and* as far as I am concerned 1 do not feel any too sure thnt tho individual will be here when the dato of delivery of the goods is duo. I will thank you if you will print this letter for the good that it might do. I might state that lam a merchant, and that' I called on tho individual in question and told him that I would guarantee my wife's order if ho refunded to mo tho deposit, but this ho was not willing to do. 1 candidly informed him that the reason I wanted the deposit was that I did not trust him. Foil the Good of the I'nni.to.
