J. Buchanan is handling a trio of young ones comprising a gelding by Catmint from Merry Roe, a filly by Lucullus from Walrarapa, and a filly by Lucullus from March. N. Cunningham has added to his team a two-year-old gelding by Some Boy 11. from IJlushet. The newcomer has just been broken in and is a good sort. Polonett is working along steadily in preparation for coming meetings. The chestnut is doing nicely again and should soon come back to form. The big gelding by Archiestown from Lady Waahi has had n couple of schooling lessons and has shaped welt enough to indicate that lie will become a. proficient fencer when he has had more experience. He is one of the biggest horses 111 commission at Ellerslie and will take time to come. M'aveelish has shown signs of being on the improve and should not be long in winning among the minor class. Bustler is all the better for his recent racing an, is training on well. Our hac« hurdlers do not appear to bo of much account at present and it is likely that Bustler will soon add to his winnings. Riding engagements announced for Takapuna are as follow: -li, E. Thompson, Kawa; R. McTavish. Ruapapa; E. Stanway, Some Bother; and J. Gimmick, Gold Fern. Knighthood is a mass of condition. The imported gelding has been racing moderately of late but now that the tracks are easier he may do better for ho likes the going soft.

The hunter Some Bother is to have his first race at Takapuna on Friday, when he will be a runner among .the open hurdles. Some Bother is a dashing jumper and should be very useful later on.

Several Auckland horsemen had winning mounts at Trentham last, week. 11. Wiggins was successful on Joy Bird and Plain Sailing, W. Bagby won 011 Lady Desmond ana Gala Day, and R. McTavish scored on Cawnpore.

Quinetle is carrying a bright appearance and has be«n hitting out. well. It is evident that she is coming on and she may return to the winning list in the near future. Her turn may corno at one of the country meetings.

King Merv was given a course of physic after the recent meeting at Ellerslie. There has been nothing special aboul his recent track doings but he is striding along nicely. i

The Royal Tea will be shipped to Sydney by the Ulimaioa on Friday and on arrival will go into y. Price's stable at Randwick. His owner, Mr. C. M. Emanuel, has long had the idea of sending him to Sydney, to race and a lew days ago definitely decided UP°n the project. Royal Tea is engaged .in the Champagne Stakes at the Australian Jockey Club's; Easter Mating.

Archibald has been hitting out freely and fenced boldly in a schooling task on Saturday. The fall he had at his last start has cost him 110 confidence and he should pive a good account of himself in his coming engagements.

Chairman is standing up to his work and should strip well the next time he is asked to race. This fellow has lots of pace anu should win Boon among the hack sprinters.

The Auckland-owned filly Danao must have run a good race at Trentham on Saturday when she finished third in the Melrose Welter. Danao is a big filly that has frequently shown pace 011 the tracks and should go on improving. The chances are she will do a good deal better in the autumn.

The form shown by Cawnpore at Trentham was consistent and good for he filled a place in each of Mb three starts. Cawnpore is nicely placed at Takapuna and will find much favour if his owner decides to run him. The smaller course may not -suit him as well as Trentham.
