QUARTERLY MEETING HELD.

The quarterly , general meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers was held in the Chamber of' Commerce. The chairman, Mr. F. E. de Guerrier, presided over a fair attendance of members. After the transaction of routine business, interesting papers by Mr. A. D. Mead on " The Importance of the Catchment Factor in Discharge Formulae," and by Mr. T. McFarlane on " The Ilangiriri Deviation," were read and fully discussed.
