Barnard is commented upon by the British Medical Research Council in its annual report. This savs:— "Dr. Gye and Mr. Barnard have transformed one outlook on the problem of the causation of cancer by suggesting that a filter-passing virus or an ultramicrobe is a common factor in malignant tumours, but is harmless without an adjuvant factor."
