TOWN AND COUNTY AFFAIRS

The Iloclncy Chamber of Commerce resolved to endeavour to get a veterinary surgeon settled at Warkworth as a large area of country around the district had no such officer available, and there is a considerable increase in the better type of stock. «
The Town Board again fixed Satin-day as the statutory half-holiday. Plans for concreto footpaths are in hand and tenders will shortly bo called for the •work.
' The vital statistics for 1925 were:— 'Births, 43; deaths, 11; marriage notices,
|The Rodney County Council this week let tenders as follow:—Supply and de-livery-of 250 yds. sandstone to Johnson's corner, Auckland Road,* Miller and Hall, lps Id; hauling 280 yds.' of shingle at Pakiri, Wyatt" and Zanders, 10s. - The council resolved to procure a new car "for use in county work. The dog tax was fiked at 2s ,6d and ss, and it was agreed -■to appoint - a collector for the whole- of 'the county who- would' make" a house-to-house visit. Arrangements were made for a tour of inspection of all the ridings with a view to drawing up a plan of work for the year.
