DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS.

AUCKLAND'S REPRESENTATIVES

TEAM DEPARTS FOR NAPIER,

In quest of New Zealand championship honours, a party of Auckland representative 6wimmers, divers and water-polo players, accompanied by numerous supporters, left for Napier by train last evening. The team, comprising 13 seniors and 11 intermediates and juniors, is perhaps the strongest that has ever represented Auckland, and at the Napier galas on Saturday, January '25, 27 and 29, their performances are expected to eclipse tho splendid record o? last year's combination. Auckland holds the Yalahurst Shield, the token of aivterprovinciul supremacy, and also shares possession of the War Memorial Shield for competition among intermediates and juniors. J. Enwright, who is manager, will, on January 23, defend (he Annette Kellerman Cup for the three-mile harboui race, which he won at Lytt-elton last year from scratch. Since the cup was presented it has been won by an Aucklauder each year. C. Welson, a, former holder of the trophy, may also compete. A. D. Adamson, winner of the Auckland 100 yds. championship in record time, received tho necessary leave, which was not forthcoming when his selection was first announced, and was thus able to make the journey. He is tho favourite for the premier event, but is expected to meet strong opposition from L. Fairgray, and the Waaganui sprinter, N. Dowsott. L. L. Kronfeld. who was among tho nominees, will not compote.

Tho representatives who left by train are:—Messrs. A. D. Adamson, L. Fairgray, J. Enwright' Masters G. Bridson, \V. Stockley' and J). Mulvihill: Misses P. Page, ,T. Bell, G. Pidgeon, M. Farquhar, E. Champion, D. Magee, M. Bell. B. Hanlon, S. Brown, O. Harvey and J Thompson. Miss E. Stockley and Messrs. E. V. Cunnold and D. Pelhani left in tho morning by motor-car.

Miss E. Tilsley accompanies tho tenm as chapurone.

The water-polo team is as follows:—L. Fairgruy. F. Hedges, D. Pelham. J. Meikle. E. V. Cunnold, J. Env,-right ana Dr. T. H. Pettit. Messrs. C. Wolson and A. Clarke have been appointed trainers. Mr. J, Patten is assistant-manager, and with Mr. T. G. Hobbs-Jones will act as the> Auckland Centre's dolegate at the Dominion conference of centres,_ which take 3 pluce during the championship week.
