AN ALLEGED NUISANCE.
DRAINAGE AT OAMARU. RESIDENT TAKING ACTION. [BY TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT. 3 OAMAHU. Tuesday. For a considerable time the Oamaru Borough Council has received repeated complaints from a resident of South Oamaru concerning the alleged nuisance created on his property by the council allowing the discharge into tho South Oamaru Creek of drainage matter from the southern part of the town system. The outcome is that at the sitting of the Supremo Court early in February, the Mayor, councillors and burgeseses of the borough of Oamaru will be the subject of a civil action with James Gray, retired farmer, as the plaintiff. Among the claims to be made is one for £SO, compensation for the depreciation of his land, that an injunction be granted to restrain the defendants from the continuance of repetition of the injury, and such further relief as 'in the circumstances may be just.
