GENESIS AND SCIENCE.
" New Light on Genesis " (Marshalls, London), is a recent attempt by the Rov. Morris Morris, sometimo lecturer in biology at Melbourno University, to reconcile tho Biblical creative " days," with the findings of modern scienco. Accepting tho fact of descent and the; theory of ovolution as an explanation oi; tho fact, Mr. Morris relies particularly on tho conclusions of Mendel. In the idea of the successive addition of now factors he sees a satisfactory reconciliation of the "leaps" that evolutionists still acknowledge with the divisions suggested in the Genesis " days." The book abounds in illustrative examples and interestingly sets forth its thesis. The thesis is not new, but that it is capable of fresh treatment is shown by Mr. Morris' handling. It is a highly-suggestive book, marked both by scientific frankness and religious sympathy.
