THEATRE RESERVATIONS.
Sir, —It is high time that the theatrical authorities followed the example of New York and a number of tho leading theatres in London and mado it possible to reserve a scat in any part of the house. Why should " pitites " and those who do not want tho highest-priced seats have to spend weary hours waiting for early doors, or else take pot-luck ? London actors have stated recently that it is a difficult task to play to a house part of which is worn out with waiting, and, as one of those who frequently do the waiting, I know how it spoils the pleasure of a play or performance. With the booking system established for tho most costly seats, it surely ought to bo possible to extend it without difficulty to embrace all seats. As a matter of fact, tho impossibility of reserving a cheaper seat keeps away a great deal of custom from the theatres. Many people would rather miss a show than wait for eitly doors, or run tha risk of not getting a seat if they arrived later. Initiative.
