COBRA ON GOLF LINKS.

VICEROY SEES A " KILL." AN INCIDENT IN INDIA. Excited Inquiries have been received in Calcutta from London asking details about a thrilling escape the Viceroy was supposed to have had from a cobra on the Tollygunge golf course, writes the Calcutta correspondent of a London paper. The facts are that Lord Reading was breakfasting at the clubhouse, on the' verandah with a party, and noticed some excitement among a group of coolies on a green some distance away. Suddenly a cobra reared its spreading hood, and there was panic among the coolies. Whereupon the Viceroy's military secretary walked to the green and killed the snake with a stick. The Viceroy and the cobra werp never within 25yds of one another.
