One of the oldest racing fixtures in New Zealand was carried out oil New Years Day, when tho Tirau Racing Club held its annual meeting on tho local course. The day proved fino, after heavy rain tho night before and in tlie early morning. The track was in first-class order Tho meeting proved highly successful, there being splendid fields, good starts and close finishes. Following the running of the Tirau Handicap the owner of Passionless laid a protest against Delysian for alleged bumping. The Judicial Committee, after hearing evidence and visiting tho scene on tho courso. dismissed the protest, W. C. Vincent, volunteering tho statement that he was perfectly satisfied that if any interference took place it was entirely accidental.
