WAGES OF "LOYALISTS."
A POSSIBLE REDUCTION. SEQUEL TO 1917 STRIKE. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Dec. 31. It is possible that those who are known • " the 1917 loyalists "in the employ of the railway ir.d tramway services will not only suffer loss of seniority but will also have their wages reduced in conformity with the positions held by them as a result of the regrading. When the Government issued a minute demanding the regression of the loyalists the Premier, Mr. Lang,, said that the Government desired that they should receive the same rate of wages as if they had not been regressed. It is stated that the Railway Commissioners, who control both the services, find that they cannot legally meet the extra expenditure that would be entailed by carrying out the Premier's desire. Mr. Lang refused to make any comment on tbe matter.
