HERNE BAY BOY SCOUTS.
PRESENTATION OF BADGES.
The Herne Bay troop of boy scouts held its annual social on Tuesday to mark the conclusion of the year's work. Mr. R. C. Grigsby, district commissioner, Mr. J. J. Mead, district secretary, and Mr. E. B. B. Boswell were present as official guests. There was a large atten-lince of parents and friends of the boys. The scouts, under the direction of Mrs. English, gave a good programme of vocal and instrumental music.
Scoutmaster Norwood presented badges to those who had passed the proficiency tests. Several special prizes presented by Cubmaster Upton were also presented. Mr. Grigsby gave an address, and on behalf of Dominion headquarters presented Mr. Norwood with the Scout Association's king-service medal. He also handed to Scout Philpots a medal for tfce scout making the highest score in tEs shooting cup competition. He mentioned that Scoutmaster Norwood was to take 36 boys to the jamboree at the Dunedm Exhibition in They will spend a day or two m V.eiiington and Christclmreh ori their journey
